E@L Correctly Divines Divine Motivation For "Wretched American"

Those close to Daw Suu Kyi refer to John Yettaw, the fucking religious nutter and alleged "illegal swimmer", who flippered his way into her home by one of the fetid swamps of Rangoon at night the other week and stayed illegally claiming to be tired, as "that wretched American".

His weird act has really thrown a spanner into the works of Aung San Suu Kyi's hopes for release and hopes for the Burmese military junta's easing of its violent repression of minorities and illegal jailing and torture and murder of those who have spoken out against its illegal rule, ever since its held onto power despite losing an election to Daw Suu Kyi's coalition party in the general election of 1990. [phew, remind me to rewrite this paragraph!]

Last Saturday, E@L broke the time barrier of the blogosphere by being the first to correctly refer to Yettaw as that "fucking religious nutter".

Harsh, some might have thought. Admittedly E@L was on a bit of a limbic rush of ex-Catholic vitriol there, but Vindication has arrived!

The UK Telegraph confirms that Yettaw believes he was on mission from God, having had "a vision" of her assassination by terrorists. Hallucination, dream, wank, are other words for his mental movie. He only wanted to warn her and the Government, which he claimed would be set-up as responsible for the killing.

E@L's opinion of Yettaw now?

Wretched fucking American religious nutter.

BTW Australians are not racist! When PM Rudd gave Mexican ex-Telstra boss carpet-bagger Sol (isn't that a curveza?) Trujillo his generous verbal "Adios" to complaints of Australia being "backwards" and "racist", it was merely sign of his familiarity with the second great language of the cheap labour markets, the Mexican (Philippines, Spanish) language to complement his fluency in Puttonghua, and if Mr Trujillo had the 睾丸 or cojones he would admit that.

Sol the super well paid boss who further drove down the share price of one of the most widely held stock's in Australia. Part of the retirement hopes of the everyday Aussie (this of the HK HSBC but in Aust). Was he considered a winning boss? The market did not think so. So evidently he will not be missed and here.

IIRC Sol also had a go at the Singaporeans when it was convenient for him as the Singtel owned competitor to Telstra beat his team to the contract to improve our crap broadband down here.

On the other topic, who would have thought that a mad guy from the USA would appoint himself to interfere in another culture and ruin things for them? I can't think that has ever happened before?

Scott: last paragraph: LOL, yes, who woulda thunk?

Ahem. Clearly you guys need some re-education on the whole concept of: 1) Manifest Destiny, 2) The "special role" that God has planned for the United States also known as the doctrine of American exceptionalism and 3) We only get upset about totalitarian regimes in oil producing countries. Good God man! Don't you realize we "liberated" 26 million Arabs?

Seriously though, I just got done reading Fareed Zakaria's Post American World where he points out that one reason Americans have problems relating to the rest of the world is the "concoon" we live in. Could not agree more with that since my return to the land of fat women. The amount of stupidity and naivete about the world is mind boggling.

"We're on a mission from God".

Skip, btw I'm also on a mission from god: my mission to get as far away from as I can...

On the other hand (why does my mind work like this?), the flippered one could be seen as a fearless activist raising world consciousness about Burma?

Can I have another go at that? Thanks. Maybe Flipper is just another middle-aged Western guy in love with an Asian chick.

Isn't the notion of 'god bless America' to be an open display of ethnocentric selfishness? Perhaps if there is in fact a great power out there they should be asking for everyone to be watched over rather than just looking after their own interests.
The god botherers tend to be praying for their own needs IIRC.

Scott, you miss the post-modern American concept of God as the Cosmic Vending Machine. New ponies for everyone!

Dunno E@L, I'm thinking the Burmese junta would've come up with something to keep the status quo going. They're fat dumb and happy knowing that the U.S isn't coming and no one in ASEAN gives enough of a shit to do anything other than wag the finger they pick their collective nose with. Suu Kyi wouldn't have been released this month or year and real elections are, currently, a pipe dream.

All of that said I'd love to see the kangaroo court in Rangoon sentence said nutter to having his nuts removed. Preferably through his nostrils. There's something in the water over there I tell ya.

Jay I didn't miss it really. Once again the Aussie sense of humour is being display in the subtle sense and it goes through to the keeper...

What about the post-America modern God not the mention the post-God modern America that we fervently pray for, but to whom.

BTW I don't truly get EITHER of your comments, so settle this out of court please.

I have stood in line at the Traders Hotel in Rangoon as one or two General and their minions filed past, and fuck me if didn't shake their hands, thinking al the while, "How people many have you killed today, General?"

I was not happy to go, but I was just following orders... It was eventually sold to me as an "experience" to tick off my list.

That was two jobs ago. In this current job I have already refused once to go back. It's like having a non-expansionist Nazi Germany on your country's doorstep. Great (to moderate - it's no Cambodia under Pol Pot) evil is going on there and no-one seems able to do anything about it except Chamberlainesque "negotiation". You'd think after this latst UN mtg they'd admit it's them, not the rest of the word.

E@L, it's the American concept of God existing only to give us shit (e.g. "please God, give me the lotto numbers"). Or to punish those who we don't like. A friend coined the term the Cosmic Vending Machine to describe the concept. Anyway, nutters the lot of 'em.

Jay: CVM is term of great social and political import - I might have to (sober up and ytpe striaght) steal it!

All very true ...Generals very bad. But I'm not quite done with Flipper. Maybe he should have stayed in Bangkok a bit longer? Eden Club would be happy to fix him up.

DH: (still laughing from the Asian Mystique thing...) Maybe he wath on athathinathion athignment for Antonio Banderath?

I bet old Flipper had pictures of Aung Sang Suk Yi on his bedroom wall. No Madonna for him.

Scott: I think (and have always thought) this trial has a foregone conclusion. Get ready the invasion force!

DH: I doubt that the Mormons are big on the BVM. I'd have to look it up, but have work to do this week. Head down, bum up, just like in the navy (with flippers).

I guess she is another victim of the financial crisis. No one can afford to invade these days. They have little enough to cover the cost of the current wars.
